Today, we used our knowledge of the Great Fire of Gateshead and Newcastle, in 1854, and sent ourselves back to the 19th century to become…news reporters! Each group had a news reporter who interviewed Charles Bertram’s wife, a fireman and also a survivor. We wrote questions for each person using our understanding of question marks and then imagined how each person would answer them. The answers were thoughtful and imaginative! Next, we were lucky enough to see some fantastic acting along with expressive reading as the children became their characters and reported for 2J news! Well done to all of the children – even those who didn’t want to perform, but still gave it a go!
