First Man on the Moon

Jan 13, 2020History, Reception

This week the Reception children have been looking back in history to discover who was the first man on the moon. We watched a video of a rocket taking off and the lunar module ‘The Eagle’ landing on the moon. We learnt that Neil Armstong was the first man to walk on the moon in 1967, along with Buzz Aldrin. The children found it very unfair that Michael Collins didn’t get to go on the moon as he had to stay to look after the spaceship. We watched how the capsule landed in the Pacific Ocean and practiced saying the famous words “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”
