Year 4 have had a fantastic afternoon! After having spent time researching what makes a successful earthquake proof building, the children were given the opportunity to build their own! They were provided with a variety of resources such as: paper straws, spaghetti, sellotape, blue tack, string and mini mallows. Each team was given time to plan and design their structure before beginning and half way through were given the chance to send an envoy to other teams to see if they could magpie any ideas! The children use their knowledge of cross bracing and triangulation to create their strong structure. After working brilliantly as a team, the children put their structure to the earthquake test – a 10 second earthquake from a tray of jelly!
