Good morning Nursery! We hope you’ve had a good weekend and are enjoying family time. We miss playing with you in nursery but have loved seeing what you have been up to at home.
Here is a game you can play all week which help you to recognise your name even more! Simply ask your grown up to hide your name card (it’s in your pack) around the house and you have to find it. Have a try at writing it! A challenge is to ask your grown up to write your surname on the back and play the same game. I wonder where your name will be hiding.
In the afternoon try some fun Maths activities? This website has some great ideas.
Ask a grownup to create a free login for Oxford Owl where you can enjoy books and play fun games.
Remember to keep singing our nursery songs, such as days of the week, special helper and our name songs. I’m sure your grown-ups will love listening to them.
Good morning Reception! We hope you’ve had a lovely weekend and we hope you enjoyed the activities we planned for you last week. We have more exciting things this week to help keep you busy. Here are today’s ideas:
Lots of you have enjoyed building dens in our outdoor area so now it is time to build one at home!
Activity 1 on Task board 2. This could be inside your home or in your garden. What could you use to build your den? How will you join it together? We would love to see photos!
This afternoon we would like you to complete your number 12 sheet (included in your pack). After, find 12 objects and explore different ways of making 12. You could draw a part-part whole model to help you. If you have already completed your number 12 sheet you could make up your own sheet for another number.
Have fun! 😊 Mrs Cassidy and Miss Cavanagh
Morning! We hope you’ve had a fun weekend and are ready for a new week! We are missing you a lot but love seeing what you are getting up to at home!
For your Maths task today, we are thinking about representing numbers up to 20.
Watch this Numberblocks episode to remind yourself:
Then try the Tens and Ones sheets in your packs. We’d like you to try 2 sheets – the one beginning with ‘Circle 12’ and then the one beginning ‘Ted is drawing the number 12’. A grown-up might need to help you with the second sheet. Remember, just try your best and don’t worry if it’s a little tricky.
We’d like you to keep practising your speed sounds, so tune in to join your lesson online.
If you let your grown-up know which RWInc. group you are in, they will show you which video to watch.
Miss Thompson’s group – Set 1
Mrs O’Hara and Mrs Harm’s groups – Set 2
Miss Bunce, Miss Jobey and Mrs Neve’s groups – Set 3
As well as this, log onto Purple Mash and check your 2Dos. We would like you to draw 2 pictures and write a sentence under each to tell us about your weekend. This could be a TV show you enjoyed, a game you liked playing, or story time.
Remember that you have your sound mats in your packs to help you. We can’t wait to hear what you have been up to!
This afternoon, we’d like you to explore objects that float and sink.
Watch this first: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/messy-goes-to-okido-why-do-things-sink-and-float
Can you find 3 objects in your house that float? Can you find 3 that sink? (Check with your grown-up before you put them in water!). Then, we are challenging you to make a boat that would float on water. What material will you choose?
Challenge – can you make a boat that floats AND can carry something?
Wishing you all a happy Monday!
Miss Bunce and Miss Thompson
Monday 30th March
Happy Monday, Year 2! We hope that you’ve had a lovely weekend, full of fun activities with your families. We really are missing those lovely smiles!
Maths – Open up your CGP Arithmetic booklet and complete page 9. Like Friday, today’s focus uses your addition skills. However, this time, you’ll be adding two 2-digit numbers. Before starting, try to challenge yourself to do the ‘quick start’ question. If you’re finding your addition calculations tricky, use your column method skills or you can draw tens and ones if that helps. The last two questions will carry a ten so remember to add the carried ten! If you’re finding this really tricky, have a good go at the first 6 questions only and make sure you’re happy with your answers. If you want to challenge yourself further, you can have a go at page 10.
English – Use the CGP KS1 English Comprehension booklet and complete ‘Get Well soon’ and ‘A trip to the shop’ on pages 6-7. A good tip is to read the questions carefully and underline any key information to help you answer them. If you’re finding it tricky, focus on reading the texts aloud to an adult slowly. If you’re done quickly, practise spelling 5 words from the ‘Year 2 common exception words’ grid (sheet in your packs) or some speed sounds from the back of your reading diary.
Afternoon – This afternoon, we’d like you to create a time capsule! This is quite an extraordinary time that we are living through at the moment so why not document it? Include information about yourself like your height, your age (years and months), your favourite things (colours, food, book, music, film, game, toy, friend, hobby) and a drawing of yourself to show how you look right now. Find a box or something to keep your time capsule safe and find a hiding place (you might even want to bury it in the garden). It cannot be opened for 10 years – what will your 16- or 17-year-old self think of it in 2030?
Enjoy the start to the week, Year 2, and we hope that lots of you are still keeping up with Joe Wicks’ PE lessons at 9am each day! We wonder what your favourite move is!
From Mrs Bainbridge and Miss Jobey
Good morning Year 3, we hope you have had a lovely weekend and ready for this week’s activities. To start the week, we would like you to do the PE lesson with Joe Wicks on YouTube at 9am. Get ready as you don’t have long until it starts!
Maths – In your file find, ‘Summer Addition Mosaic’ sheet. Can you guess which summer picture it will be? Challenge! 350 + ____ = 550 235 + _____ = 550
English – Find the ‘Using Verbs’ activity. Fill in the missing words to complete the sentences. Remember a verb is a word used to describe an action (e.g. jump, stir and run). Underneath write your own sentences and underline the verbs.
PSHE – Use a blank sheet of paper from your file and make a poster about healthy eating. This could include some information about what we have learnt on the food pyramid and eat well plate. Use the link to help you. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/the-eatwell-guide/
Remember to keep reading every day and let us know of any good books you have read so far.
Happy Monday Year 4!
Maths – Open your pack back up and find Maths activity 4. Log onto your PurpleMash account, click on ‘2dos’ and try the different games we have set for you. https://www.purplemash.com/sch/dunston-hill We can’t wait to log in and see how you are getting on.
English – In English, we would like you to research a famous author of your choice and record 10 facts in your homework book, this will help you to complete English activity 3 tomorrow. You might include facts like: Date of birth, where they were born, information about their family.
Computing – This afternoon, make a start on Computing activity 1. You will need to open a new word document. Remember to save your work so you can come back to it tomorrow.
Remember to still read for a minimum of 15 minutes and if you need to complete a quiz then copy and paste the following link: Ukhosted5.renlearn.co.uk/2244890
Good morning and happy Monday Year 5! 😊 We hope you and your families have been able to rest up over the weekend and have spent some quality time together doing the things you all enjoy.
To help kick start the week, remember to tune into Joe Wicks at 9am for a workout to wake up your bodies and brains!
Your tasks for today are:
- Your Maths task today is to complete the ‘Compare and order numbers to 100,000’ worksheet labelled ‘Week 2, Activity 1’. Use your place value knowledge to help you with this. You could even create your own number sequences up to 100,000 or use the greater than (>) or less than (<) signs to compare your own numbers. Maybe you could set this as a challenge for a member of your family?
- Your English task today is to complete the ‘Sometimes I think…’ poem reading comprehension – read the text and answer the questions on the back. Perhaps when you are finished, you could have a go at writing your own poem, describing your idea of a weird and wonderful ‘day at the office’!
- Afternoon session: Choose a PE activity (or two!) from the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_A_HjHZxfI&list=PLJ_VoGBcjVsoqSEjPSUl5HajeNjoSbyF0
