Mrs Warrilow’s New Nursery Class

Thursday 16th July

Hello boys and girls! We hope you are enjoying ‘Transition Week’ and we have loved getting to know you more. We won’t be adding a post tomorrow but please join us live on Facebook at 10.30 am tomorrow for a final assembly.

Today you have two videos from your teachers to watch. Mrs Warrilow will be reading a story which will help settle you into Nursery and at the end of the video you will find little challenges to try today and over the holidays. We would love to see photographs of you trying your best: putting on your coat, shoes, washing hands amongst others… we think you will be great!

Link to Mrs Warrilow’s story: https://youtu.be/jVn3C3kWTmY

Here is another lovely teacher who you will love getting to know:

It’s Mrs Bootland here, another one of your teachers; I am looking forward to working with you all in September!  I have the gorgeous job of working with Nursery and Reception throughout the week. I just can’t wait!  I have made a little video to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about what we will be doing together!  There is also someone else who wanted to say hello, I wonder who it could be..?

Link to Mrs Bootland’s music: https://youtu.be/baUPz3wtvKg

Today’s transition task: music time!

I would love to see if you could make an instrument at home! Perhaps you will have some old bottles or boxes in your recycling that you could use? You could make a shaker or a drum? I wonder which other ideas you will have? Don’t forget to sing and dance lots too!! I can’t wait to hear all about your summer in September! Looking forward to seeing you all, sending you big smiles!  From Mrs Bootland 😊

So boys and girls, the next time we meet will be in September and we can’t wait to hear all about your summer. We are looking forward to having lots of adventures together in Nursery and we will have a super time making new friends and playing together!

Have a great summer – stay safe and be kind. Sending you big smiles!

From Mrs Warrilow, Mrs Bootland, Mrs O’Hara, Mrs Walton and Mrs Hewitt ❤

2B – Mrs Bainbridge’s New Class

Thursday 16th July

Happy Thursday, everybody! This week has absolutely flown by and we have loved the chance to get to know you a bit better. We are already looking forward to September so much and seeing all of you in our classrooms. We can’t wait!

We won’t be adding a post tomorrow but please join us live on Facebook at 10.30 am tomorrow for a final assembly.

We wanted to finish our transition week off like we often finish the day in school – with a story. Click on this link for story time with Mrs Bainbridge. https://youtu.be/dC3uM03MMnE

We hope you enjoyed relaxing and listening to the story. We wonder if you have a favourite author or a favourite book? Let us know in the comments by posting a photo of you with your favourite book! We would love to try to include some of them in our story times in September. Take a final look inside your big envelopes for today’s activities.

Activity one: In Year 2, we love to read (can you tell?) and it’s important that we don’t lose our places when we read. Inside your envelopes there is a small strip of card. Use it to design your own bookmark! You might include the titles of all of your favourite books or you could draw some of your favourite characters.

Activity two: Inside your envelopes, you will also find a piece of folded card. We would love for each of you to make a birthday card. Then, when we are back to school, there will be a big box of birthday cards for each of you to receive one from your class on your birthday! Think about the card you make as if you were making it for your best friend – what sort of pictures might you put on the front? Just leave the inside blank for now as we will fill it in when we are in school.

Activity three: The final sheet in your envelopes is a book scavenger hunt! Search your house to try and find all of the books on the list. Good luck! You might even challenge someone in your household and see who can find all of the books the quickest.

We hope that you have an amazing summer and we hope that we have lots of sunshine!  Have fun, spend lots of time doing what you love and we will see you in September! We are so excited and we hope that you are too. Stay safe and see you soon!

From Mrs Bainbridge and Mrs Gaulton

2J – Miss Jobey’s New Class

Happy Thursday! Today is the last day of term and we cannot quite believe it. This week has absolutely flown by and we are already looking forward to September so much. Don’t forget that there is an assembly tomorrow morning at 10.30am, too.💙💛

Today, we wanted to finish our transition week off like we often finish the day in school – with a story. Miss Jobey mentioned in her video on Monday how much she loves to read – especially Roald Dahl books – and Mrs Neve loves reading, too! Miss Jobey has chosen a story about a Yeti to read to you today! Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBIR5JcKr34&feature=youtu.be

What a funny story that was! We hope you enjoyed relaxing and listening to it. We wonder if you have a favourite author? Let us know in the comments by posting a photo of your favourite book! We would love to try to read some of them in September. Now, take a final look inside your big envelopes for today’s activities.

Activity one: Inside your envelopes there is a small strip of card. Use it to design your own bookmark! You might include the titles of all of your favourite books or you could draw some of your favourite storybook characters or maybe you want to write your name really big to show that this bookmark belongs to you. You can use it for your new reading book in September.

Activity two: Inside your envelopes, you will also find a piece of folded card. We would love for each of you to make a birthday card. Then, when we are back to school, there will be a big box of birthday cards so that each of you will receive one from your class on your birthday! Think about the card you make as if you were making it for your best friend – what sort of pictures might you put on the front? Please leave the inside blank for now as we will fill it in when we are in school.

Activity three: The final sheet in your envelopes is a book scavenger hunt! Search your house to try and find all of the books on the list. Good luck! You might even challenge someone in your household and see who can find all of the books the quickest.

We really hope that you have an amazing summer and we have got our fingers crossed that the sun will shine for us all. Have fun, stay safe, make lots of lovely memories and we will see you in September! We cannot wait and we hope that you can’t wait too. See you soon!

🌈 Miss Jobey and Mrs Neve 🌈

3C – Mrs Cowan’s New Class

Good morning soon to be 3C! I can’t believe it is already our last day of our transition activities. Thank you for sharing them, it has been really lovely finding out about you! Today, I am going to share one of my favourite stories with you and I really hope you enjoy it. Click on the link to listen to it and join in if you know the story. 😊

https://youtu.be/pvwnTb80uZM

Task 1 – What is your favourite story? You could draw a picture of it with some sentences, write a book review or even get your grown-up to take a short video of you reading it. I would love you to share these with us on our post.

Task 2 – In your transition pack there is a puzzle piece. Follow the instructions at the top of the page. We liked this idea because we can celebrate everyone’s talents and see how different they are and how they make up one excellent class! We’re all parts of the same puzzle 😊 I can’t wait to see all of your talents!

I hope you have a brilliant summer and I can’t wait to see you all in September!

Mrs Cowan ❤️

3M – Mrs McLean’s New Class

Hi everyone! Today is our last day of tasks for the whole school year! Wow! It has been lovely to see some of your pictures and work this week; I feel like I’m already getting to know some of you 😊

Today I’m sharing with you one of my favourite short stories – Green Eggs and Ham. It’s a very silly rhyming story that always makes me laugh and I hope you like it too. Join in where you can!

https://youtu.be/kuS8GGMJnRs

For today’s task, you need to find the puzzle piece from your transition pack and follow the instructions at the top of the page. We liked this idea because we can celebrate everyone’s talents and see how different they are and how they make up one excellent class! We’re all parts of the same puzzle 😊 I can’t wait to see all of your talents!

For an extra task, I’d love it if you shared one of your favourite books with me in the comments section like I shared Green Eggs and Ham with you. You don’t have to read me the whole story but you could take a photo of it or draw a picture of it or even make a special bookmark designed with characters from the book perhaps. Let me see what you like to read!

Have an amazing summer everyone and I look forward to seeing you all in September 😀 Love Mrs Mc

4C – Miss Conway’s New Class

Happy Thursday, 3M!  Thank you for completing the activities so far, I am really enjoying getting to know you all! 😊 I know that we are going to have such an exciting year together and I have already started to plan lots of fun activities.  This is our final day together before the Summer holidays and today I am going to share the first chapter of one of my favourite books with you… Gangsta Granny!  This will be our class novel in September 😊 I will explain your first task on my video.

https://youtu.be/CQHNP6psKMo

Activity 2 – As you may have noticed, my current class are top of the leader board on Times Table Rock Stars… We love learning our times tables in Year 4 and this is something that we will have a huge focus on.  So, for your second activity today, I would like you to create your own times table board game.  You could give your game a theme, or just choose to colour it in.  We have added a blank sheet of A4 paper inside your transition pack for you to complete this task.  Please keep your board games safe and then bring them into school when we return in September, for us to play together.

I can’t wait to see what you create.  Please post photographs of your characters and your board games in the comments box on Facebook or send us your snaps through email 😊

I hope that you all have a gorgeous Summer, keep safe, and make lots of lovely memories!  I can’t wait to see you all in September and for an exciting year ahead.

Miss Conway ❤️

4W – Miss Whaley’s New Class

Thursday 16th July

Happy Thursday, the new 4W! This is our final day together before we break up for the Summer holidays. When we return in September I know we are going to have a fantastic year together! Today I am going to share with you the first chapter of our class novel which will be Gangsta Granny! I hope you enjoy it and look forward to reading the rest when we return to school. 😊

Click on the following link to watch my video including the first chapter of Gangsta Granny and your two activities for today. https://youtu.be/q5yO9_t-oGY

Activity 1: Gangsta Granny character sheet – use this sheet to create your own character and keep it safe in your envelope to share with the class in September.

Activity 2: In Year 4 we have a big focus on our times tables and we love using Times Table Rock Stars and other games to help us. Use the blank sheet of A4 paper in your pack to create your own times table board game. You might choose to stick to one table or use a mixture. Keep your games safe so that we can play them together when we return in September.

I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations so don’t forget to post your photographs of your characters and board games in the comments box on our Facebook post or through email. 😊

I hope that you all have an amazing summer, keep smiling, keep safe but most of all make lots of memories! See you all in September! Miss Whaley! 😊 X

5B – Mrs Berry’s New Class

Good morning boys and girls! I hope that you are enjoying your week and that you enjoyed your activities yesterday with Miss Tuart and Mrs Cox 😊

Today we are going to focus on our positive mental health. Just in the same way as exercise is good for your physical health, a positive focus and mindset is super important for your mental health 🧡

Before we start – I have a little treat for you all. Watch my video – I hope you like it.  https://youtu.be/aa_rB2FSmyc

When you are ready – you can make a start on the tasks below 😊

Remember to take your time and think carefully – this will be time spent investing in your mental health and should make you feel positive as you complete them!

Task 1 – You have an A4 sheet which is a memory jar. In each section, write and/or draw your favourite memories from lockdown that correspond to the section on the jar. We will have lots of fun sharing these when we return to school!

Task 2 – Self-love blocks – you might want to complete this task over a number of days as you give it some thought. It is really important that we all recognise the goodness in ourselves and all of the amazing things that we are and what we do (think about what your favourite family member might say about you if they were describing you to someone). It might seem a little strange at first – but BE PROUD! Each and every one of you is a wonderful, talented person – don’t be afraid to write it down!

Task 3 –  Positive affirmations – Find the sheet in your pack with green boxes on. Some of them are filled in already and the others are blank, ready for you to fill in with positive affirmations. Think about the types of positive things that if you say them to yourself, or someone says it to you – it makes you feel better. It could be that you struggle with your times table knowledge – your affirmation could be ‘I will keep trying and won’t give up!’. It could even be something related to friendships at school and your affirmation could be ‘friendships can be hard at times, but I will be patient, kind and forgiving.’

It is a good idea to think about affirmations for things that you might find a little tricky at times. The idea is that we will laminate these for you and give them to you to keep and read at any time that you wish. They are your own personal affirmations and they DO NOT need to be shared with anyone else.

Have a wonderful day! Stay positive and be happy 😊

Mrs B xoxo

5O – Miss Ornsby’s New Class

Thursday 16th July

🌻Hello again 5O!🌻 I really hope you have enjoyed the activities so far this week! Today is the last day you will hear from me but September will be with us before we know it 😊. Keep an eye out for a special post tomorrow (Friday) and of course, tune in then to our wonderful live assembly at 10:30 am for a final goodbye message!

For today, our activities are going to focus on our positive mental health. Just in the same way as exercise is good for your physical health, a positive focus and mindset is super important for your mental health.

Read the instructions carefully to help 😊

Task 2 – Self love blocks – you might want to complete this task over a number of days as you give it some thought. It is really important that we all recognise the goodness in ourselves and all of the amazing things that we are and what we do (think about what your favourite family member might say about you if they were describing you to someone). It might seem a little strange at first – but BE PROUD! Each and every one of you is a wonderful, talented person – don’t be afraid to write it down and share it with us! 💛

It could even be something related to friendships at school and your affirmation could be ‘friendships can be hard at times, but I will be patient, kind and forgiving.’ In our class, we will keep these in a special place for us to access when we need them most. Watch my video to find out where! https://youtu.be/dHpCr_YIhfQ

Don’t forget to share your wonderful work with me in the comments below! Have a beautiful Summer holiday, stay safe and I already can’t wait for September! Lots of 🧡, Miss O x x x

6P – Miss Parkin’s New Class

💙💛Happy Thursday 5B💙💛

Morning 5B – I hope you enjoyed the tasks Miss Tuart and Mrs Cox set you yesterday.

Small children have big feelings! It is always important to talk about these, to share any worries and excitement we may have! No feeling doesn’t matter 💙💛

Reminder – You are not on Teams and there are no maths or English tasks set 😊

When we are together again in September, our first Geography topic is all about the USA.  We will take a Road Trip across the United States of America from the comfort of our seat in 6P.

In preparation, here is a little quiz for you to play along with – get family involved too if you wish – to see what you already know about the USA!

Here is your video link for today’s USA Road Trip Quiz: https://youtu.be/Um2HLfgAcK4

Today’s tasks:

Task 1 – In your pack you have a smaller sheet entitled “Classroom Rules”. I would like you to reflect on which rules help to keep our class working and having fun together, then add them to the sheet. In September, we will discuss these together to make sure we are all happy and know what is expected of each of us as a member of 6P.

Task 2 – Jigsaw Mindfulness Piece. Put on some happy music or take yourself to sit in a happy place and colour or doodle a design onto your jigsaw piece. It may just be blocks of colour you choose to do or a pattern or lots of little patterns or pictures or words. It is up to you! My example is attached below for you to see – but there is no right or wrong way to complete this task! If you can, please carefully cut your jigsaw piece out.

Task 3 – This is my favourite task which is why I have saved it until last! You need the sheet of paper with the eight boxes on which will be folded to create an ‘All about Me’ booklet. Firstly, complete the questions and then make the booklet as colourful and beautiful as you can! To fold your piece of paper into a booklet watch the video linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYwGvgJxi1s&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3_1xiDtYN5CItJNWhnbNZgwLJ7ysbMZLkZJTLpPFqZ1sFrmHWZj-vZTK0

Please keep all your work from this week safe in your envelope so we can explore it in September. Until then…..

Have a lovely Summer Holi’YAY’ 5B.

Be kind, be happy, be YOU!

I can’t wait to see you bright and early on Monday 7th September.
