Mrs Warrilow’s New Nursery Class

Tuesday 14th July 2020

Good morning children! We hope you enjoyed watching yesterday’s video and meet some of your new teachers including Mrs Warrilow. Did you manage to make some cloud dough? If you didn’t manage to do so yesterday, you can always save this activity for another day.  You can post your photographs anytime this week.

A little reminder that there will be no Tuesday assembly today, however watch out for a special assembly on Friday at 10:30am with Mr Sutherland.

Would you like to meet more grown-ups who will be working with you in Nursery? They are your key workers! I’d like to introduce you to Mrs O’Hara, Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Walton and they are all looking forward to playing with you in September.  😊

1B – Miss Bunce’s New Class

Tuesday 14th July
Hello again, everyone! It was so lovely to get to hear from you yesterday and see your amazing self-portraits. I can tell you were working very hard on your jobs yesterday! ⭐

Now, you already know that, next year, you will be spending time with me, Miss Bunce. But you will also be spending time with someone you already know very well… Mrs Gregory! That’s right! Mrs Gregory will be coming to Year 1 with you, and she is incredibly excited to spend another year with you. What a great adventure we will have altogether!

Today, Mrs Gregory has a little message for you all: https://youtu.be/DqonWRLb7HU

Mrs Gregory has set us a super task for today and I can’t wait to make mine. Your task is to create a time capsule all about yourself! We would like you to include things that tell us about you. You might include a handprint, a piece of string that shows your height or photographs of the special people in your life.

In your transition pack, you will also find a template that you can fill in for your time capsule which is all about your favourite things.

Make sure you keep this somewhere safe so that you can look back at it in years to come!

🌈 We hope you have a wonderful day! 🌈
Miss Bunce and Mrs Gregory

1T – Miss Thompson’s New Class

⭐ Good morning everyone! ⭐

I hope you enjoyed creating your self-portrait yesterday, I loved looking at some of your work in the comments! Yesterday you got to know me a little bit better. Today, you are going to watch a video of someone you are a little more familiar with… Mrs Guyan! We are both so excited to be working with you in September. Sit back and enjoy…https://youtu.be/qKyj5CcWSbU

2B – Mrs Bainbridge’s New Class

Tuesday 14th July

Good morning everyone! We really hope that you enjoyed yesterday’s activities and thank you so much to those of you who shared a photo in the comments. We loved finding out all about you from your work and the photos you sent in.

Yesterday, you got to know Mrs Bainbridge a bit better. Today, we would like you to get to know Mrs Gaulton a bit better. Just like yesterday, we have got a video for you to watch.   https://youtu.be/afb8Koz148M

Now that you have watched the videos, we would like you to open your big envelopes again and take a look at today’s activities:

Activity one: Find your hot-air balloon sheet. We would like you to decorate this hot-air balloon so that we could use it in our cloakroom at some point during Year 2. We will even take a picture of you to put in the basket, so that it looks like you’re flying! If you were flying high in the sky, what might you see below you? You could use collage materials (so ripped up pieces of paper or magazines) or felt pens or colouring pencils or glitter – it’s up to you! Make it as colourful as you like and you might want to use all of your favourite colours to make it really personal to you.

Activity two: Find your superhero sheet. We know already that you are all superstars, with superhero powers! These are the things that you are really good at and you will have so many to choose from. It might be your writing or your maths work or maybe you are amazing at geography, history or science or you are a sporting star!  It could be that you are really helpful or a kind friend or maybe you look after your pet really well. Think carefully and choose your superpower to write on to your superhero picture. Next, colour in the background using coloured pencils. These sheets are quite special because if everyone completes their superhero pictures, we can put them altogether into one huge picture! They are like mini jigsaw pieces. Please don’t worry if you don’t get all of the activities completed today – they will be there over the summer if you want to do them then instead.

We hope that you have a terrific Tuesday and we will be back with more activities for you tomorrow.

From Mrs Gaulton and Mrs Bainbridge

2J – Miss Jobey’s New Class

Good morning! We really hope that you enjoyed yesterday’s activities and we are really looking forward to seeing your completed activities in September. You could even use the big envelope to keep your things safe until then. Yesterday, you got to know Miss Jobey a bit better. Today, we would like you to get to know someone who is a bit more familiar to you…Mrs Neve! Both of us are so excited to be working with you in Year 2! Just like yesterday, take a look at Mrs Neve’s video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPArWSQ207s&feature=youtu.be

Now, open your big envelopes again and take a look at today’s activities.

Activity one: Find your hot-air balloon sheet. We would like you to colour in this hot-air balloon sheet so that we could use it in our cloakroom at some point during Year 2, just like you saw in the video. We will even take a picture of you to put in the basket, so that it looks like you’re flying! If you were flying high in the sky, what might you see below you? You could use collage materials (so ripped up pieces of paper or magazines) or felt pens or colouring pencils or glitter – it’s up to you! Make it as colourful as you like. You might want to use all of your favourite colours to make it really personal to you. Remember to keep it safe for September once it is finished.

Activity two: Find your superhero sheet. We know already that you are all superstars, with superhero powers! Your superhero powers are the things that you are really good at and you will have so many to choose from – it might be your writing or your maths work or maybe you are amazing at geography, history or science or your drawings are fantastic or you are a sporting star. It could be that you are really helpful or a kind friend or sibling or maybe you look after your pet really well. Think carefully and choose your superpower to write on to your superhero picture. Next, colour in the background using coloured pencils. These sheets are special because if everyone completes their superhero pictures, we can put them altogether into one huge picture, like a jigsaw.

Please don’t worry if you don’t get the activities completed today – they will be there over the summer if you want to do them then instead.

Have a brilliant Tuesday!

5B – Mrs Berry’s New Class

Mrs Berry’s New Year 5 Class (5B)

Good morning boys and girls. I hope you had fun yesterday and enjoyed your first activities. Remember – you can take your time to complete these over the holidays too. I am super-excited to see them 😊

Today , I have a special video for you to watch. I am sure that you will all remember Mrs Ion. She is very excited to be working with you all in 5B as our Teaching Assistant. Mrs Ion will work between 5B and 5O – so you will see lots of her ❤️

She has created a lovely message for you all – so please click here to watch : https://youtu.be/Ow4FaNL96Wo

Just like me, Mrs Ion would love to learn more about you. As Mrs Ion works with both classes, she would like to see how each person in the class fits together. She has a really fun task for you that will help!

Task 1 – you have a jigsaw piece in your pack. Write your name on the jigsaw and draw some pictures that represent you, then colour it in. You do NOT need to cut it out – we will do this at school and laminate each piece. When they are all finished, our class jigsaw will be complete and we can display it on the wall 😊

Task 2 – Now think about how we will all work as a team to show care and respect for all. Find the ‘class rules’ sheet and think of your top 5 rules for your new Year 5 classroom. I am looking forward to reading these 😊

Remember – keep your creations safe and pop them in your envelope when you are finished.

Have a lovely day, Mrs B xxx

5O – Miss Ornsby’s New Class

Today, I have a special message from someone you already know quite well…Mrs Ion! I know lots of you have worked with her in the past and she is extremely excited to be working alongside you all in 5O, and just like me, would love to learn more about you. As Mrs Ion works with both classes, she would like to see how each person in the class fits together. She has a really fun task for you that will help! Click here to watch her video: https://youtu.be/Ow4FaNL96Wo

Task 1 – You have a blank jigsaw piece in your pack. Write your name on the jigsaw and draw some pictures that represent you, then colour it in. It could include hobbies, friends, pets, favourite food, favourite place – you can choose! You do NOT need to cut it out – we will do this at school and laminate each piece. When they are all finished, our class jigsaw will be complete and we can display it on the wall 😊

Task 2 – Now it is time to think about how we will all work as a team in 5O to show care and respect for all. Find the ‘class rules’ sheet and think of your top 5 rules for our Year 5 classroom! You could even use some of Mrs Ion’s examples from her video 😊

Remember – keep your creations safe and pop them in your envelope when you are finished.

6P – Miss Parkin’s New Class

💙💛Miss Parkin’s New Year 6 Class💙💛

Morning 5B, Miss Parkin here again for our second day of Transition tasks in preparation for becoming 6P in September… (only 55 days and counting to go!) I hope you enjoyed the tasks we completed yesterday and you have kept them safe in your envelope for September.

Reminder – You are not on Teams and there are no maths or English tasks set 😊

Today we have another familiar face who wants to welcome you to the Year 6 Team. Here she is…it’s Mrs Moorhead https://youtu.be/XVTDrxHEQHM  . Mrs Moorhead is our Year 6 TA and she will be working with you from September in class as well as for some of the time when I have my PPA.

Are you ready for today’s tasks? Let’s go!

Task 1 – For this task you will need “Memory Jars” from your envelope and a pair of scissors and some glue. Memories shape our lives and make us the people we are today! I would love to know about your memories over your time in 5B or over lockdown or over your whole life! It is totally up to you.

To complete your jar:

  1. Fill in the information about your memories using the sub-headings to help you.
  2. Cut your Memory Jar out very carefully.
  3. Now, read the instructions on the opposite side of the page to create the four separate flaps that keep your memories safe!
  4. Now it is time to decorate! Coloured pen or pencil; drawings or patterns; collage items stuck on are all a great way to decorate – be as creative as you wish!

Added below is my memory jar so you can see what a finished one looks like.

Task 2 – For this task you will need “Hobby Review” from your envelope and a pen or pencil.           (Feel free to colour the boxes in with coloured pencil after you have written – as long as we can still read your writing!) This task is all about an activity that you enjoy doing – a hobby! It may be a hobby you do with family, friends, a team or by yourself. What could your hobby be? Is it football or horse-riding? Is it gaming or reading? Is it watching films or visiting places like museums or outdoor parks like Gibside? Let us know… we always love to bring our hobbies into our teaching and learning in the classroom, if we can, in 6P!

Added below is my hobby review … it is something I mentioned in my video on Monday. Can you remember?

Have a lovely Tuesday 5B
