What a fantastic day Year 4 have had at Cragside House! We started off our morning by climbing down the Rock Garden to the wonderful Iron Bridge. The children settled down to complete a sketch of the bridge and the surrounding gardens which were brilliant! We then made our way down through the Pinetum down to the Power House where the children enjoyed learning about Lord Armstrong’s creation of hydroelectricity. The children enjoyed looking at the Pelton Wheel and seeing what force it took to power the machine to create electricity. After lunch, the children explored the house where they were able to look around different rooms such as the study, the scullery and the billiard room finding out about what life was like for Lady and Lord Armstrong in the Victorian Times. We were extremely impressed with the links the children were able to make with learning we have been doing in school!
