We have had a new visitor in our class for the last week! The children were really excited to come in to find caterpillars in our classroom. Over the last week and a half we have watched them get bigger and start to spin their silk ready for the cocoon. The children can’t wait to see them turn into butterflies. We have been retelling the story in our writing books and have produced some fantastic work!
A huge thank you to the parents who have signed up to be our Mystery Reader! The children have had their first 2 special visitors into the class and they loved finding out who was going to be reading to them at the end of the day!
Xander’s daddy read us ‘The Gruffalo’ which is a firm favourite in Class RCH, and Alice’s Mammy read us ‘The Selfish Crocodile’. It taught us 2 valuable lessons: to be kind to our friends and they will be kind to us, and to make sure we brush our teeth so we don’t have tooth ache like the crocodile!!
If you are interested in being our next Mystery Reader please do not hesitate to contact one of the Reception team!
Welcome to Class RCH page. Here you can find what we have been up to and any important information or changes you need to know. We are very excited to welcome the children into Reception and we have a very fun filled year ahead! We hope you’ve all enjoyed your long Summer break and are excited for the adventures that lie ahead!
The school gate will open at 9am for the morning children on Tuesday 3rd September and 1pm for the afternoon children. We look forward to seeing you all then!
Reading Diary and Reading Books – 25th September
As mentioned in our ‘Meet the Teacher’ session this morning, over the next week we will be sending home your child’s reading diary along with a reading book for you to share with your child. The books might be popular story books or picture books. Please spend some time sharing the stories with your child or making up stories linked to the pictures.
In school, we will read with your child once a week and record a message in their reading diary. We would really appreciate it if you could read with your child and make a short comment in their diary too. Your child’s book will be changed once a week and they will be given a set day to both read with a member of staff and select a new book of their choice. Their reading/book change day will be printed in their diary.
We ask that reading dairies are in school each day. Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions then please let us know.
