In Year 2, we have been exploring the Polar Region of the Arctic – which we know is a region that includes parts of countries like Alaska. First of all, we looked at where the Equator is and how it can help us to locate hot and cold countries. Next, we looked at physical features we may find there, such as sea ice and glaciers. Then, we learned about the city of Barrow, in Alaska, and the human features found there before comparing Barrow to Dunston and Gateshead. We were interested to see some similarities and lots of differences!
