TikTok information for parents

Nov 6, 2020Computing, Latest News

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been brought to our attention that many children are accessing TikTok under age. The age restriction for Tik Tok is 12 years  plus and if they are under 18 years of age they should be supervised by parents or legal guardians. The following information, which is attached, has been sent via the National  On-line Safety for children website, please read the guidance and speak to any children at home you believe may have access.

This week you may have seen the BBC Panorama programme where they investigated whether TikTok was safe for young children and uncovered some concerning issues. We attach the link to that programme below should you wish to watch it.

In school, we educate children about on-line safety and accessing age-appropriate material. We hope this information supports you to ensure they are safe on-line when at home.

Miss Reay is responsible for on-line safety education in school and if parents need any support, she is more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
