As part of our Science unit, 4R were asked ‘How could we investigate what liquids impact our teeth?’ After a lot of discussion (and a few clues that egg shell and teeth have a similar amount of calcium) the children came up with an idea for an investigation. They decided to put an egg in a range of different liquids. They were eager to find out what impact milk, milkshake, water, flavoured water, coke, coke zero, coffee, fruit shoot and fruit juice had on our teeth, I was particularly impressed at the fact that they wanted to make comparisons between similar liquids (i.e. the difference between water and flavoured water).

After leaving the eggs in the liquid for a week, the children were extremely surprised at some of the results! Have a look and see…beware you might be put of drinking some of these liquids for life!
